Drew Herring’s Dominating Performance Ends Early
Broken Rear End Cost North Carolina Driver a Shot at Victory
If it were not for bad luck, Drew Herring would have no luck at all. The Benson, North Carolina driver headed to Lanier National Speedway (GA) for the first time in search for some redemption to his recent string of bad luck. At first, it looked like he would be successful. Herring led over 100 laps on Saturday night and was going to be a serious contender for his second-career USARacing Pro Cup win. A broken rear end resulted in a smoky mess that left Herring 15th in the final standings.
“That would’ve been one heck of a race for second because we had the dominant car out there, there was no question about that,” said Herring. “I just put it on cruise control and do whatever I wanted to with it. We just can’t get any luck right now we had a fast car, the car was unreal, and I could do whatever I wanted to do with it and just burnt the rear end gear up and that’s part of it. It just stinks when you’re running that good and then to have the car to beat.”

Herring had never been to Hickory, but he was a quick learner. He is already looking forward to the next race at Motor Mile, a track at which he has had lots of success.
Herring will have a few weeks off before the Pro Cup teams head to Radford, Virginia to run a 250 lapper at Motor Mile Speedway on July 18th.
